Settlement Policies

Tracking

• A  nonrefundable deposit is required for booking tracking time at the studio
• The deposit guarantees the studios availability for date(s) booked
• The deposit will be applied towards to the final balance of the tracking sessions.
• Final payment for tracking is due within 48 hours of completion of tracking sessions
• Tracking is broken up into either half day (4 hour) or full day (9 hours with a meal break) sessions​
• Artist is entitled to the pro tools files after tracking.​
• Stem prints (for programs outside of Pro Tools like Logic etc) are charged at an hourly rate to export due to editing and processing/organizing time
• A tracking day that goes longer than 9 hours may incur overtime charges at a 1.5 times the hourly rate
• Artist is responsible for paying for the full amount time booked regardless of length of session

​Mixing

• Most projects fall under my flat rate mixing policy (unless otherwise stated)
• For flat rate mixes, I include up to 3 versions of each mix, an initial mix plus up to two revisions 
• Mixing is broken into 4 payments, a nonrefundable deposit, a payment after V1 is done, a payment after V2 is done and a final payment due after V3 is done.
• All outstanding balances need to be settled before moving onto the next revision and delivery of final premasters
• Additional revisions past version 3 may incur additional hourly rate costs


• Mixes before final mix will be shared with the artist as MP3s. After final mix is approved, the artist will receive full quality lossless audio file (typically WAV). I am unable to share Pro Tools session files of mixed versions.

Cancellations/oddities

Artist cancellation - Tracking

• If the artist needs to cancel or reschedule their tracking session after they've paid the tracking deposit, we will find the next available date within 30 days of cancelled date. Deposit may be voided for cancellation, and a new deposit may be required for the rescheduled date
• If artist is unable to reschedule within 30 days of canceled session, deposit may be voided and a further deposit will be required for an additional booking
• If engineer (Andy) is unable to find a date within 30 days of canceled session, then the next available date will be booked and the deposit will still apply to the rescheduled session.
• If engineer (Andy) needs to cancel session due to unforeseen circumstances (illness etc) The next available tracking date as close to within 30 days possible will be booked and the deposit will move with the session reschedule

Artist cancellation - Mixing

• If the artist decides to cancel mixing after mix V1 is done, the artist may be required to pay a cancellation fee of 60% of the outstanding mixing balance*. Artist is still responsible for settling most recent mixing version balance.
• If the artist cancels after mixing has started, the artist is entitled only to the most recent  MP3 file of the song mix version. Any songs that do not have premaster approval from both artist and engineer are unsuitable for release and may not be shared publically. 
• If artist decides to end mixing process before V3, they are entitled to any outstanding revisions within 90 days of final payment. After the 90 day period, artists will be charged an addition fee to revisit mixes. 

*Exception for rush mixing jobs, for a rush mix, 100% of the balance is required to be paid if cancelling. For singles, I typically require 50% up front and 50% upon completion
